Michel’angelo Lambertini: 1862-1920

25 July 2002 - 16 November 2002

Michel’angelo Lambertini was involved in music as a performer, conductor, composer, musicologist and organologist, as well as publisher and tradesman. On the broader cultural level, mention should also be made of his activity in organising and encouraging musical and literary events. In addition, he was responsible for collecting a considerable part of the present collection of the Music Museum.
The exhibition currently on display thus brings once more to public attention a personality of vital importance to Portuguese culture in the late 19th century and beginning of the 20th, and marks the passing of 140 years since his birth.
The exhibition is made up of a carefully selected range of objects, records and mementos linked in one way or another with his life and work, which bring to the public the many facets that made up his personality and involvement.
Note that while the exhibition is on display a number of parallel activities will take place.
